This adorable and slippery hippo is not from PA and not from the US, as she lives in the Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Si Racha, Chonburi, Thailand.
Moo Deng or "Bouncy Pork" was born on July 10, 2024, and has taken the world by storm with her toothless, playful biting;
Her love of water;
and her dislike of monkeys.
Moo Deng may live on the other side of the world, but American comedians cannot help but bring her into US Politics.
Like Jimmy Fallon, who's viewers may just write her in as a presidential candidate.
However, as we already established she cannot hold the office even if elected as she (besides being a hippo) is a foreign citizen.
To hold the office one must meet certain qualifications, "natural-born citizen, at least thirty-five years of age, and a resident of the United States for at least fourteen years," as the US Constitution details.
Then rumors swirled about a Moo Deng endorsement, but Saturday Night Live cleared that up, confirming that she didn't plan to make one.
Soon the very real hippo was cartoonified and her likeness was used to market cryptocurrency.
Finally, the Pennsylvania State Department learned of her virality and also took to using her image in an attempt to get people to vote with mail-in ballots. The post was made on the account for Vote.PA and has had 7.5 million views as of the time of publishing.
However, this has backfired as Twitter/X-users quickly pointed out that this cartoon is encouraging a crime of an illegal alien voting in a federal election, violating Title 18 of the US Code § 611. Voting by aliens.
Which is something users were quick to point out and roast.
Many pointed out that the state, which probably meant the ad in jest, was in fact promoting a crime.
At least one user pointed out that besides her lack of citizenship, Moo Deng is too young to vote.
Some tried to "fix" it, but again were just making fake endorsements.
Ironically, even the Twitter/X algorithm seems to think this post is promoting voter fraud as the post often appears with a Heritage Foundation ad about voter fraud.
But, remaining tone-deaf the commonwealth continued down this path literally doubling down. This time they asked people to vote with yet another cartoon viral baby animal, Empire Penguin, Pesto along with Moo Deng.
And the internet responded with deafening silence, as of the time of publishing, more than 24 hours after the Tweet/post was made, no comments have been made.
Hopefully, this will be the end of this baby hippo's exposure to political scandals such as a voter fraud accusation.
